Stay and Sail Option >
Living aboard a yacht for the whole of your holiday is not everyone' s cup of tea but this should not put you off a sailing holiday. Stay & Sail is the option for you. Popular 2-week combinations are to spend the first week of your holiday sailing and the second week ashore relaxing and exploring.
Certification >
In most European Countries to charter a flotilla or bareboat yacht, the port authorities and our insurers require the skipper to have at least a practical day-skipper certificate or equivalent experience - in both cases together with an ICC.
Yacht Plans >
We have attached a typical range of Yacht Plans so that you can guage size and requirements for your holiday and see what types of boats we have available.
A Bareboat Charter is where you hire and sail the yacht yourself, we supply no crew just the yacht.
Bareboat sailing allows experienced and certificated sailors to take a yacht and plan their own itinerary.
We will need to know and check your level of qualification and sailing experience. In Greece, if chartering one of our fleet, we also prefer if you stay with a flotilla group for the first night; this reassures us that you are able to handle the yacht and the mooring techniques but also makes sure you are happy with the yacht and its equipment. In other bareboat sailing regions, our trading partners' sailing team will assist you at the marina and ensure you are familiar with the yacht and local procedures. At no time are you allowed to sail at night.
In Greece, if aboard one of our fleet and should any problems arise, either one of our lead flotilla yachts or Ionian Boat Assistance (an Ionian boating AA!) will come to your assistance. In all our bareboat sailing regions there are emergency breakdown services, which can be called out (24 hour in Greece; however in other countries cover varies).
