STORY SYNOPSIS
Somewhere in ancient time, the Great Monastic Order of Monks and Magicians had always controlled the crown, people and beasts of the universe. Having met again to gain updated facts gleaned from travellers into the known world, the meeting was to pool resources, update ancient books and maps and thereby, increase their combined power and knowledge. A huge map lay on the circular table, it was the only map of its kind in existence and the source of the great order’s powers. For all living creatures shown on the map only survive in the universe because they remain named on this powerful parchment.
Good has always been challenged by evil …Enter Zanival, the dark magician (known throughout as "The Evil One") and wanting to control this world snatches the map and when accosted, tears it into pieces. In desperation Golan creates a strong wind to blow the fragments to the four corners of their known world. Zanival makes his escape. The Order’s power and the lives of all creatures have now been dispersed. The pieces must be found before the evil Zanival collects them for himself. An alternative plan is to attempt to create a new more powerful map of the world but, the original structure had been collected over many centuries. Creatures of the map would now have to be viewed, redrawn and placed on the map from scratch, simple memories could not guarantee its correctness, if left off, would simply fade and disappear from the universe. Beasts like the Dragon, Phoenix and Manticora still abound on this world, yet dinosaurs had lost out at the previous such conflict. The oldest and wisest monk Golan, hatches a clever plan...Jertowrie needs special help.
Richard as he is known (Albie in the original book format), is a modern day boy on Earth who has a passion for graffiti drawing, finds an old steel box under a fallen oak tree. It contains an original bestiary and a tattered map of the then known world. (Like the 13th century Hereford Mappe Mundi and Northumberland Bestiaries showing beasts drawn around the border.) Richard is transported through time to another place at the centre of the Multiverse to the Ryalme of Jertowrie which resembles Earth’s 12th /13th Century lifestyle. Richard as “The Chosen One” becomes apprenticed to Golan, a sort of bumbling monk-cum-dabbler in wizardry.
Golan explains to Richard that the Ancestral World is being destroyed by a being known as the Evil One, and that the remaining defenses against his sinister power are falling. Golan, apparently, is a Guardian and the Keeper of the Life Force, which is contained in the Tree of Life through seven Life Force pods, with each pod possessing a different Life Force. Six of the seven pods have been stolen, and thus six Guardians have been captured. Only Golan's pod remains, but he is much weakened.
Golan informs Richard that he must recover the stolen pods and bits on the Map and attempt to rescue the captured Guardians as well, but Richard wants to know why he, an ordinary boy, must complete an extraordinary task. Golan states that Richard is the Chosen One, a stranger who sees in two lights (referring to Richard's eyes) and the one foreseen in prophecy who will destroy the Evil One. Naturally, Richard only wishes to go home, but Golan says that is not possible.
The cantankerous old monk insists on Richard’s help to devise a new and more powerful map, Richard being “The Chosen One” is unsure himself, he doesn’t even understand what foreign lands and animals are supposed to be like. Armed with certain magical artefacts Golan, his young artist called Nikki, the modern day know-all Richard set off through the then known world to find out first hand whether they can track down the pods, the rest of the map and update facts referred to in ancient book of bestiaries named “The Beastery”. They remain sceptical and unbelieving of each other’s stories because of age and time gaps. (i.e. - Richard tries to explain television but, when pressed, does not really understand what makes airwaves work and is thus regarded with sceptism.)
This is “Good” versus “Evil” scenario and the little band are constantly tracked by Zanival’s minions. Joining forces with a powerful wood-witch and using some untrustworthy ancient documents as a guide, they encounter all sorts of dangers and problems; becoming lost, meeting hostile opposition, strange and ferocious beasts. Continuous arguments rage between them in attempts to correct the old documents, all gain vast knowledge from the huge time difference occurring and in their own perception of the beasts.
The group stoically battle through having covered a range of items, real and imaginary which have been magically penned onto a new map by Nikki, the mother nature artist. They reach the “Sacred Tree of Life” and the coming together of the “Great Contiguity” which happens each millennium. Eventually they win out over evil. Richard marks the box with his initials before they bury the manuscripts and plant a young tree.
The manuscript originally found by Richard at the beginning, turns out to be the same one buried by himself at the ceremony seemingly all those years back. The story therefore, becomes a non-ending ring and a line of communication to our world that means anyone handling the map will be called back in time to meet Golan.
This original story in book format is a first book of the trilogy (The first being “ANCESTRAL TRAIL” published as a partworks series of 52 episodes by Marshall Cavendish and that internationally sold over 30 million copies). The third part of the trilogy called “THE MYTHMAKER” has recently been completed. The above synopsis and characters are based on the full book story that for obvious reasons had to be adapted slightly differently for an intended film version that has already been screen written and has a major Film Director attached to it. However, the film version with its special effects etc. does remain true to the overall concept of the book version without giving too much away.
The whole film is aimed at the family audience; it is warm, comical and inviting in concept, never dark or depressing. There are scary moments but, these will be done in the style of grandness or cartoon feeling. The nature of the film is designed to be interactive with the audience, drawing them in with a "WOW!!" and feel good factor. Specifically, the acting is to be live, inviting and fluid to achieve these means even though enhanced by dynamic computer effects, rather than the other way around which seems to be the general trend.
Lastly, the original first working draft of the book format mapped out and with a film now coming into play, there are some areas of this work that will probably be changed, improved and honed into a stronger and more emotional story. But then again, what do we know? We are movie makers, not writers.

Dedicated Servers
Compnix is one of the first UK hosting providers to offer a range of unmetered data transfer dedicated servers. With our expertise we can help design your needs from beginning to end with our dedicated servers there are no monthly data transfer limits and no excess charges but unlike some providers that artificially limit your connection speed with a virtual data pipe, there are no speed restrictions either.
Your dedicated server is connected to the network via a dedicated switch port and you are free to use as much bandwidth as you need at no additional cost. With the dedicated servers the limiting factor becomes the capability of your server hardware, only with Compnix can actually use the dedicated processing and storage capacity of the server you've paid for.
Compnix has the infrastructure and economies of scale to offer you this service on a UK hosted server. Worrying about bandwidth bills is now a thing of the past and you can reap the benefits of the latest broadband and rich media technologies which were previously too costly.

Moving your Website Files
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the simplest and most secure way to exchange files over the Internet. The most common uses for FTP is to download files from the Internet, and to upload your website files to your hosting space. The ability to transfer files back-and-forth makes FTP essential for anyone creating a website, amateurs and professionals alike.
An FTP client is software that is designed to transfer files back-and-forth between two computers over the Internet, in this case connecting your computer to our hosting servers. FTP client software needs to be installed on your computer and can only be used with a live connection to the Internet. Popular FTP clients are SmartFTP, FTP Explorer and Core FTP. However, with our system this FTP is built in and very simple to manage from computer, dragging files to your hosting account and back again.
The classic FTP Client look is a two-pane design. The pane on the left displays the files on your computer and the pane on the right displays the files on the remote computer.
File transfers (FTP)are as easy as dragging-and-dropping files from one pane to the other or by highlighting a file and clicking one of the direction arrows located between the panes.
The thing to do is to move the website files from your local computer to the hosting account. How you do this depends on the web design package you are using. Detailed instructions for the most popular FTP programs and web design packages, along with Movie Tutorials for some of them, are contained within the Support Database, that we supply once you have joined up. .
Regardless of which program you use on your local computer, you will need to know the details for the server to upload to. They include the FTP server name, your FTP username and your password. Those details are always displayed at the bottom of the first page of your eXtend Control Panel, so you can always get those details there. Your main FTP username is always your domain name. If your domain is very new or is yet to be transferred into your account, rather than use ftp.yourdomain.dom as the FTP host, you will need to use the IP address instead.
You will also find a File Manager inside your eXtend Control Panel which can be used to move files onto the account, as well as a variety of other functions. A file called index.html will have been preloaded straight into your account when you join and we immediately set up your account, you simply overwrite that file with your main page of your site.
All this Free Software?
All our hosting accounts come with a variety of different templates, scripts and free software supplied as part of the account. All of those are available via the various options inside your eXtend Control Panel. For each option, you will also find on-screen instructions on how to use each of those. There are so many different options that it is impossible to go through each one here, but aside from the details on screen, you will also find more detailed documentation available inside the directory you have chosen to install that feature into.
Please note that the Web Builder is only available to customers with the Bronze, Silver or Gold hosting account. It is not available on the other accounts and so that option will only appear on those higher level accounts. This also applies to MySQL database support, access to shared secure server space and support for Microsoft FrontPage Extensions which are also only available on the Bronze, Silver or Gold hosting accounts. Customers who wish to take advantage of those functions will need to upgrade their hosting accounts accordingly. Details of all our hosting packages are available on our website at Price Range should you wish to consider upgrading

All About Domains
The Domain name system
The term domain name has multiple related meanings:
A name that identifies a computer or computers on the internet. These names appear as a component of a Web site's URL, (e.g. compnix.co.uk) This type of domain name is also called a hostname.
The product that domain name registrars such as Compnix provide to their customers. These names are often called registered domain names.
Names used for other purposes in the Domain Name System (DNS), for example the special name which follows the @ sign in an email address, or the Top-level domains like .com, or the names used by the Session Initiation Protocol (VoIP), or DomainKeys.
They are sometimes colloquially (and incorrectly) referred to by marketers as "web addresses".
This article will primarily discuss registered domain names. See the Domain Name System article for technical discussions about general domain names and the hostname article for further information about the most common type of domain name.
